Julianne Hough is a leading force in the health and wellness space, from her legacy on Dancing with the Stars and Emmy award-winning choreography to, now, acting as a strategic brand partner and shareholder for Blender Bites.

Blender Bites, an instant smoothie brand, prides itself on its innovative product. All you need to do is add water or your liquid of choice to one of their frozen smoothie or frappe cubes, shake or blend and slurp it up. It’s that easy—and for someone like Hough with a constantly busy schedule, easy is key.

In this Q&A with EatingWell, Hough talked all about Blender Bites (including her go-to flavors of the product) plus her morning routine, her current favorite blender and more.

EatingWell: When did you first try Blender Bites, and what made you want to become a partner with the brand?

Hough: I first tried Blender Bites earlier this year and was immediately hooked! I love the taste, convenience and added health benefits in all their products. I was also impressed by the company's commitment to using high-quality, organic and sustainable ingredients and that they are pre-portioned without the use of any inner plastic. I decided to partner with Blender Bites because I believe in the company's mission to make healthy better-for-you options accessible to everyone.

I’m also thrilled that Blender Bites is a female-founded and led company—it’s the cherry on top!

EatingWell: What's your favorite Blender Bites flavor?

Hough: I love the Mindful Mocha 1-Step Frappe, which is a dairy-free blend of coffee, cacao and coconut milk with healthy functional benefits such as vitamins and lion's mane mushroom for cognition. Mindful Mocha is a great way to get a boost of energy and focus in the morning or afternoon! But it’s tough to choose a favorite. When I’m not caffeinating, the Daily Defen-C is my go-to daily smoothie with its 2 billion probiotics, ginger, turmeric and other immune-boosting properties that keep me feeling my best. I also love that it tastes like a delicious, healthy orange creamsicle!

EatingWell: Speaking of blenders, do you have a favorite blender? What are the deets on your go-to smoothie maker?

Hough: I currently really like the Beast Health Blender for its power and aesthetic, but when I’m in a pinch, I love that Blender Bites can either be blended or shaken. When I’m flying out the door, I can nix the blender and simply add the pucks to a shaker cup, add my liquid of choice that day and be on my way in one simple step.

EatingWell: Do you have a morning routine that you stick by?

Hough: Yes! My morning routine helps me feel centered and grounded. It also helps to start my day off on a positive note. I wake up every day at 6 a.m., even on weekends. As soon as I wake up, I drink a glass of water with lemon, which helps to hydrate and energize my body. I meditate for 10 minutes every morning, which helps to clear my mind and to focus on the day ahead. I also work out for 45 minutes and eat a healthy breakfast.

EatingWell: Other than smoothies, do you have a favorite snack that helps you feel energized throughout your day?

Hough: One of my favorite snacks is almonds! I love the protein, fiber and healthy fats they provide. I also love cashews and walnuts!

EatingWell: What does "eating well" mean to you?

Hough: I believe that eating well means eating foods that nourish your body and mind. I focus on eating organic whole, unprocessed foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. I also make sure to get enough protein and fiber, which help me feel full and satisfied. I don’t believe in restrictive dieting. Instead, I focus on making healthy choices most of the time and allowing myself to indulge in my favorite guilty pleasures occasionally. I also believe it's important to listen to your body and to eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. The best way to eat well is to find what works for you and to listen to your body.
